Meet the Team

Dr. CJ Lane


CJ is a Clinical Psychologist and Director of Adaptive Strategies International.

CJ operates his clinical practice out of the Adaptive Strategies North Queensland Clinic in Bowen.

CJ focusses on the treatment of a variety of child and adolescent psychological and behavioural disorders but is also concerned with optimising adult functioning. He has a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. His Doctoral dissertation focussed on improving psychological wellbeing in children with chronic school absenteeism while his Honours dissertation was an investigation into predictors of successful youth justice conference outcomes.

Prior to entering private practice as a Psychologist, CJ worked extensively in the Juvenile Justice and Child Protection fields. CJ was a member of the APS Taskforce into Child Sexual Abuse and Psychology.

He is an Adjunct University Lecturer and Academic at James Cook University and is an Australian Psychology Board Accredited Supervisor for Provisional Psychologist and Clinical Psychologist Registrar Programs.

His current research centres on the prevention of those with ADHD entering and/or remaining in criminal justice offender populations.

Natalie Cullen


Natalie is a generally registered Psychologist who primarily provides psychological services via telehealth.

Natalie has an employment background in hospitality, disability support, and crisis support.

Her honours dissertation was an investigation into perceptions of terrorism and their link to differing levels of stress, anxiety, and depression.

Natalie has a particular interest in treating mood and neurodevelopmental disorders in children and adolescents.

Shanade Ford


Shanade is a Provisional Psychologist undertaking her full general registration training at Adaptive Strategies under the supervision of Dr Lane and Townsville Psychologist Tracy Richards.

Shanade has an employment background in corrective services and hospitality.

Shanade has a particular interest in forensic psychology but is also interested in treating clients with mood disorders from across the lifespan.

Brooke Leane-Silva


Brooke is a Provisional Psychologist undertaking her full general registration training at Adaptive Strategies under the supervision of Dr Lane and Townsville Psychologist Tracy Richards.

Brooke has an employment background in the retail industry. Prior to taking up the position with us, Brooke had been regularly involved in volunteer work in child health and sport.

Brooke also has a particular interest in treating mood and neurodevelopmental disorders in children and adolescents.

Hester Schoeman


Hester is a Counsellor currently providing counselling support services to Adaptive Strategies NQ clients.  

Hester has a particular interest in providing counselling services to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. Hester is presently completing her Master of Counselling at Edith Cowan University.
